Jean:
Today we went to 921 Earthquake museum of Taiwan. I got to see the actual collasped school building from 1999 when the incident had happened. I was amazed when i saw the whole preserved school structure that had collasped. I think that it is good that the school was tranformed into an educational park by the government, and the whole site was preserved in order to remind the public of the need to prepare for such disasters, to also educate people about earthquakes and disaster prevention. There, I learnt a lot about the disaster, about earthquakes and even felt how the earthquake was like when I went to the Earthquake Experience Theater. It was a really fruitful experience at the 921 earthquake museum.

We also went to Lugang old town and I got to see the many historical houses from the past. I was amazed and happy to know that the places were preserved in order to let the younger generation know about the history.

Then we went to Ximending and we had some free time to shop. Ximending is a really huge shopping district and many trendy clothes and items are sold there, so many people go there to shop. I hope that tomorrow will be a fun day too!

Day 5 of OELP trip ( Time is passing too quickly STAPH)
This morning we went to the 921 earthquake museum of Taiwan, it was really sad that so many students died in this tragic incident, this made me realize how lucky we are living in Singapore without any worries for natural disasters. It was amazing how they managed to preserve the school building exactly the way it is after the disasters for so many years this shows how much effort they put in to preserve this to educate others on this incident. There was also the earthquake experience theatre to let us experience what happened, i enjoyed it alot. After that we went to LuGang old town, it was mainly all old buildings and structures but it was interesting too! And finally we went to Ximending! I was looking forward to it as i was told that Ximending had alot of cheap and nice things to buy! But to my disappointment, there wasn't much to buy as there wasn't enough time but at least we had free time there:) it wasn't very crowded at the point of time when we went there, i guess it was still quite early thankfully we left before it could get even more crowded!

Petra :
Day 5 of OELP. Just a few more days and we'll be back in Singapore D: But as they say, TIME PASSES WHEN YOU'RE HAVING FUN.
Anyway, today we visited 3 Places.
First stop, 921 Earthquake Museum of Taiwan! I think the tour guide at the Museum did an excellent job in explaining the different parts of the Museum as i thoroughly understood what she was saying. I think this trip to the Museum helped me appreciate the fact that Singapore is a country with no natural disasters and that i am able to live safely in the comfort of my family and home without a worry of any disasters occuring. At the same time it serves as a reminder to the Taiwanese community that they have to be constantly ready for any disasters that might come.

Second stop, Lugang old town! One thing i have to say. it was pretty hot, or very hot, totally hot. I was melting. Honestly i do not think i learnt much here but what i want to say is that their papaya milkshake tasted horrible. But still it was an interesting experience walking through Lugang old town as it gives a very native and old feeling which i seldom feel in Singapore since it is so urbanized.

Third Stop, Ximending!
I didn't buy anything. Except food! Their Meesua tastes great! I've been here before and tasted their Meesua when i was 12 but i didnt know how to appreciate it. Now that i'm older, i think the Meesua tastes magical! They sell alot of items that are in vogue. Many things that typical youngster would wear or use! A perfect place for teenagers or young adults to shop. However i did not find anything that really caught my eye oh well.

Dinner!
We had dinner at before proceeding back to our hotel. Dinner was especially fun as i got to joke around with the other people sitting at the table, however, i think we disturbed other customers in the shop and annoyed the teachers. Sorry!

Overall, it was a fun and memorable day with 2L :)

Yixiang:
Today we visited 3 places which are the 921 earthquake museum of Taiwan, Lugang old town and ximending. The 921 earthquake museum was built to educate people about the earthquake that occurred in 1999. They had built the museum around the school that collapsed during the earthquake. In the museum, you can still see the collapsed buildings and debris. The earthquake occurred at midnight, hence there were no students in the school. After touring the museum, I learnt to appreciate the fact that there is no natural disasters in Singapore. There was an earthquake experience centre for us to experience what happened during the earthquake and what it felt like during the earthquake. After that, we went to Lugang old town. There was practically nothing there except for old buildings and temples. The heat was unbearable and I couldn't wait to board the bus. The next place we went was ximending. One glance and you could see that this place is for young adults. The shops sold things that were trendy. We didn't have enough free time over there so the stuff I bought was limited. I had fun today and I'd looking forward to the next day.

Kai Ming:
We visited the 921 earthquake museum of Taiwan and learnt about earthquakes. We saw real sites of the after math of an earthquake and learnt what caused it and what actually happened. It was fortunate that the earthquake happened at night and not many people were affected by it as compared to if it happened during lesson time. Something even more fortunate is that Singapore does not have natural disasters and we should all be grateful this kinds of things do not happen in Singapore. We went to a earthquake simulator too which let us have a feel of an actual earthquake. The earthquake was not very strong so the simulator felt very boring. Next, we went to Lugang Old Town. We toured the place under the really hot sun and took many pictures. As Yi Xiang said, we could not wait to board the bus. It was really not enjoyable even though the place was interesting because none of us could pay attention under the hot sun and strong heat. Next, we went to Ximending which was a very anticipated place that all of us wanted to go to. We, teenagers, love shopping. Not only do girls shop, we boys went to shop too. We immediately rushed to shoe shops like converse and vans and sports shops like Adidas and Nike. The only thing that we lacked was time and the rain slowed us down a lot. However we had great fun and bought a lot of things.
